This delicious Pizza Bowl recipe is the solution to satisfy the pizza cravings on the days when you don't feel like eating a heavy meal. By bulking the sauce up with vegetables and meat, this bowl will leave you fully satisfied and I bet you won't miss the crust one bit!

Here's what you need to make this easy Pizza Bowl:
- turkey sausage
- chopped bell pepper
- sliced mushrooms
- chopped onion
- marinara sauce
- shredded mozzarella cheese
- your favorite pizza toppings: such as sliced black olives, diced green bell peppers, pepperoni, turkey pepperoni, sliced jalapenos...

Instructions
Here's how to make this crustless Pizza Bowl:
1. Add the olive oil and turkey sausage to a medium pot over medium heat. Cook, breaking the turkey up with a spoon, until it is fully cooked through, about 10 minutes.
2. Once the sausage is cooked, add the onion, mushrooms and bell pepper, stirring to combine. Continue to cook until the vegetables have softened, about 10 minutes.
3. Once the vegetables have softened, about 5 minutes, add the marinara sauce to the pot. Stir to combine and then remove from the heat.
4. Spread the marinara mixture onto the bottom of an oven-safe serving bowl. Layer the bowl with cheese and toppings of your choice. Then, either microwave each bowl for 1 minute or bake them at 350 for 5 minutes until the cheese melts and serve.
Hint: Use any jarred marinara sauce you like for this recipe, or use my homemade Spicy Marinara Sauce.
Substitutions
Want to substitute an ingredient in your Pizza Bowl? Here's how:
- Turkey sausage - use 1 lb ground beef, turkey, or chicken or regular Italian sausage or breakfast sausage in place of the turkey sausage.
- Marinara sauce - use an equal amount of pizza sauce in place of the marinara sauce.
Variations

- Spicy - add ½ teaspoon of red pepper flakes, ½ teaspoon of garlic powder and ½ teaspoon of Italian seasoning when adding the marinara sauce.
- Vegan - use 1 lb of meatless crumbles in place of the turkey sausage and use a dairy-free cheese.
- Gluten-free - read the labels to ensure your marinara and sausage are both indeed gluten-free.
- Keto and low-carb pizza bowl - read the labels to ensure that your marinara and sausage don't have added sugars.

Once the meat, vegetable and marinara base for the bowls has been cooked, you can store it in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 5 days. Just reheat the base and assemble your bowls when you're ready to serve. The pizza bowl base can also be frozen in an airtight container for up to 90 days.
Top tip
To prepare these bowls ahead of time, simply fully prepare the bowls up to a day in advance, cover them tightly in plastic wrap, then bake or microwave until heated through just before serving.
